Description
Casamigos is a tequila brand that was launched in 2013 by the well-known and loved American actor George Clooney, property developer Mike Meldman, and nightlife entrepreneur Rande Gerber. It all began when Clooney and Gerber started building their vacation homes close to each other and enjoyed sampling tequilas in their free time. This is when Clooney suggested that they try and make their own brand of tequila. The name Casamigos comes from two Spanish words, ‘casa’ meaning house and ‘amigos’ meaning friends.
Their goal was to make a tequila that not only tasted great, but had an exceptional finish… as many types of tequila are known to burn on the way down. In the beginning, they only wanted to make tequila for their private enjoyment, but eventually, it turned into the fastest-growing premium tequila brand in America. There are four different tequila offers that Casamigos makes, satisfying everyone’s tastes.
The Casamigos Tequila Reposado is their popular aged tequila that has a rather smoother taste. This tequila is aged for 7 months in the American white oak barrels, and is made from 100% Blue Weber agaves, which are aged from seven to nine years. Casamigo’s agave piñas are roasted for 72h in their traditional brick ovens. Considering that the fermentation process lasts for 80 hours, it offers an incredibly unique taste. For the creation of Casamigos Tequila Reposado, they use purified water from their own well!
Casamigos Tequila Reposado has won many different international awards, including the 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition where it won the Double Gold Medal, and the Gold medal at the 2015 LA International Competition of Spirits. It is designed to be served neat, but it also tastes incredible on the rocks and can be used in cocktails. It is perfect for all occasions, to say the least.
All their tequilas are bottled in the same bottle-shape, but they all offer different colors and tastes. Casamigos Tequila Reposado has a golden color that resembles honey. It has a caramel aroma with hints of cocoa. Upon taking your first sip, expect notes of spicy oak and dried fruits with a bit of sweet agave. In the end, you will be left with a silky and smooth finish.
