Description
Distilled on the edge of Lake Winnipeg, Crown Royal is home to 1.5 million barrels of decadent Canadian whisky.
First introduced in 1939 by Samuel Bronfman, president of Seagram, as a tribute to the 1939 royal tour of Canada of King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth, Crown Royal whisky was only available in Canada until 1964 before being introduced to the United States.
Using only the finest grain (rye, corn, and barley) to produce their whiskies, Crown Royal has five different recipes and twelve distillation columns that make up their individual whisky blends. Varying in age, all Crown Royal whiskies are matured in new or re-used charred oak barrels to acquire the unique flavor that Crown Royal provides.
Crown Royal has recently introduced flavored expressions to engage and entice a new market of consumers, but out of all the Crown Royal flavors, this product might be its most sinful.
Only available during the winter months as a warming addition to the holiday season, Crown Royal Salted Caramel flavored whisky is a limited-edition product blended of the finest Canadian whisky, carefully selected by the Crown Royal’s Master Blenders, and infused with a salty-sweet taste of pleasing caramels and creamy notes that compliment the sophisticated richness of the original Crown Royal Whisky.
As soon as you open the bottle, you will notice incredibly strong aromas of caramel, butterscotch, with hints of brown sugar and vanilla. Like many of its flavored counter parts in the Crown Royal family, this whisky may create confusion with whisky connoisseurs who are not familiar with the sweetness that this whisky provides.
While this Salted Caramel whisky is great on its own, it makes for a delectable holiday beverage when mixed with coffee liqueur and milk or cream. Moreover, it’s also a tasty treat for the palette when mixed with apple cider, ginger ale and a splash of lemon juice, therefore creating what is known as the Salted Caramel apple cocktail.
Regardless of how you choose to consume this product, the quality and flavor is of high standards and is guaranteed to provide a warm and inviting feel when severed among friends or sipped casually by the fireside on a cold wintery evening during the holiday season.
