Description

Often times, tequilas are not aged, but if you are looking for one that is and is a perfect sipping drink, Patrón Añejo is a perfect choice! Their slogan is on point, as they claim that although they did not invent tequila, they have perfected it. The original Patrón tequila was produced in one of the oldest Mexican distilleries called Casa 7 Leguas. The brand's rights were purchased in 1989 by St. Maarten Spirits, and in 2002 the production was moved to a new distillery.

Ed Brown became their new CEO in 2000, and with some advertising strategies, the new premium and sophisticated Patrón tequila was shown. The targeted audience was mostly nightclubs, trendy bars, and vodka lovers. In 2018, the world’s largest privately held spirits company Bacardi, bought Patrón. Currently, they have great tequila offers, one of which is called Patrón Añejo.

Patrón Añejo is a specific kind of tequila drink that is aged for over a year, to produce the perfect taste of sipping tequila. Patrón Añejo has a warm amber color, which is a lot different than what you might be used to with your basic tequilas that are not aged. It is bottled in a distinct bottle, with the usual logo in front. Upon opening the bottle, you will get a nice aroma of oak wood and vanilla.

As a sipping drink, the aroma is very important, but so is the taste. Patrón Añejo offers a fine balance of fresh agave, combined with oak and notes of citrus, fruit, and honey. It leaves you with a light floral and vanilla finish. Their drink is 40% alcohol and is available in different bottle sizes, which is always a good thing. Patrón Añejo is made from the highest-quality Weber Blue Agave, which is then carefully distilled at Hacienda Patrón distillery, in smaller batches. After that, it is aged for over 12 months in used American whiskey or Hungarian oak barrels.
